6 Methods to Create a Video with Canva

In Canva you can make designs and export them as videos. For that, you will have to select either an mp4 format or a gif format. Nevertheless, the later format will be of course without sound.
In this post we will talk about how to create actual videos: animated designs with or without sound embedded on them. And there are different ways to do that.
First method: Select a Video Template
When clicking on the create a design button, you can type in the search box the word “video”, and instantly you will have a list of video templates already available. Whether it is a regular video, or a specifi social media platform video, you have simply to click on the video template, and you will create a canva design with a timeline in which you can add pages and transitions between thoee pages. Each page is represented in the timeline by a box that you can resize to set the duration of that page.
Second method: Select a Presentation Template
By selecting a presentation template (typing presentation in the create design box), you will also have a timeline with the possibility to add pages and transitions between them. The difference between the video timeline and the presentation timeline, is that the pages are represented by boxes that are not resizable. And you can customize only the duration of the transitions. But, you can overcome this limitation, by using the following methods.
Third method: Add Animations to your Design
You have a regular post template, and you want to change it to a video. Simply animate your graphics, your text or even your page. When you click on the animate button, you can select an animation, and automatically, a time box will appear, in which you can set the duration of the animation. If you selected to animate one of the graphics, you have first to deselect the graphic (clicking on the escape button for example) so that the time box will be visible.
Fourth method: Regular design with Multiple Pages
Even if you don’t select a video or a presentation template, and you start by a simple post design. And even if you don’t want to use the animations available for the page or for the graphics. By adding multiple pages to your design, you can create a sort of animation just using the pages without any transitions. If you used a custom design, and you want to customize the duration of the display of each page, just use the time box added by default for each page. But, if you selected a specific template ( and not a video one), you will have first to click on animate ( the page), select an animation, and the time box will be visible. After that, you don't have to keep the animation, and you can remove it. Even if you do so, the time box will not disappear.
Fifth method: Add a Video or an Animated Graphic
In a regular design, you can add a video and even set it as the background of your page. The video can be already available in Canva, or a personal video that you have uploaded yourself. You can also add animated graphic elements from Canva. So, even you don’t add an animation to your graphics, texts, or your page, your design will be automatically animated.
Sixth method: Use Canva's Screen and Webcam Recorder
In the uploads section, instead of clicking on the Upload media button, just click on the Record yourself button. You will be able to record yourself, and share your screen. Then you can add your recordings to your page.
